The focus of this article is non-member fees and TAPA training requirements.
Mandatory Requirements:
There are two mandatory requirements for companies that want TAPA Certification – Fees and Training.
TAPA Fees
TAPA requires all companies that want TAPA certification to pay a TAPA fee.
TAPA has two types of fees: Annual Full Member Fee or a Non-Member Fee per audit.
Full Member Fees
The TAPA website has a a lot of information regarding the advantages of full TAPA membership. One distinct advantage of full membership is that full member companies can get the mandatory TAPA training for up to three persons without additional costs.
If your company is interested in becoming a full TAPA member, there is very easy to find the link on the TAPA website to join TAPA as a full member. At the time of this article, full membership fees are 2000 euros per year.
Non-Member Fees
Companies that want to have TAPA certification that are not full members must pay a non-member administrative fee. The non-member administrative fee is currently 499 euros per audit. That means, the company pays TAPA 499 euros for a three year certification.
The invoice for the non-member fee is sent to the company by the TAPA organization just before the actual audit. After the non-member fee is paid, the audit body is authorized by TAPA to conduct the audit.
In short, if the company is not a member… or the company does not pay the non-member fee, the audit is not authorized by TAPA and the company cannot get certified.
TAPA Training
The second requirement of both full member companies and non-member companies is that all companies must have a person trained by TAPA in the FSR, TSR, or PSR.
If the company is a warehouse, the company must have a person that has been trained in the FSR.
If the company is a transport company, the company must have a person trained in the TSR.
If the company is a truck parking facility, the company must have a person trained in the PSR.
All TAPA FSR, TSR and PSR training is online. There is a link on the TAPA website to sign up for training.
TAPA Training Costs
If the company is a full member, the training is free and there is no additional training costs. If the company is not a full member, the training costs 1499 euros for one person to attend the training.
TAPA Training Certificates
At the end of the online training, there is an online 90 minute test. The person must complete the training test and download their training certificate. The training certificate is evidence of attendance to the training. The audit body will request a copy of the training certificate before the audit may be scheduled.
One Exception:
At the time of this writing, TAPA EMEA is promoting PSR certification for truck parking facilities. The online PSR training is required… but there is no membership requirements or membership fees for PSR certification.
